Dr. Orlob received the award on February 26, 2002 at the Bay Delta Modeling Forum annual meeting at Asiloma

The HUGO B. FISCHER AWARD is awarded for Modeling Contributions Related
to the Water Problems of the San Francisco Bay, Sacramento-San Joaquin
Delta, and Central Valley System.
Previous winners were Dr. Alan Jassby (UC Davis) and Dr. Richard Denton
(CCWD) in 1995, Dr. Ralph Cheng (USGS) in 1996, Dr. Gregory Gartrell
(CCWD) and Dr. Francis Chung (DWR) in 1997, Walter Bourez III (SWRI) and
Jack Rowell (USBR) in 1999, Dwight Russell (DWR) and Kamyar
Guivetchi (DWR) in 2000, and Armin Munevar in 2001. No award was made in
1998.
AWARD CRITERIA
The award recognizes recent contribution(s) to the use of modeling for
understanding or solving Bay-Delta water problems. Specifically, the
contribution should be in the form of either development, refinement, or
innovative application of a computer model, or furtherance of the
effective use of models in planning or regulatory functions, regarding
the water problems of the San Francisco Bay, Sacramento-San Joaquin
Delta, and Central Valley System.
