Professor Emeritus I. M. Idriss Elected a Distinguished Member of the ASCE

Professor Emeritus I. M. (Ed) Idriss has been elected a Distinguished Member of American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE). 

Election to the status of Distinguished Member is one of the highest honors bestowed by ASCE. As described in ASCE's bylaws: To be eligible for the grade of Distinguished Member, a Member or Fellow of the Society shall have attained acknowledged eminence in some branch of engineering or in the arts and sciences related thereto. The total number of Distinguished Members elected in any year shall not exceed one (1) for every seventy five hundred (7,500) Society members. Members of the Board of Direction shall be ineligible for election to Distinguished Membership during their terms of active membership on the Board of Direction, as election of Distinguished Members shall be by vote of the Board of Direction. Past Presidents of the Society are not eligible for Distinguished Member status.
