Professor Levent Kavvas recieves ASCE 2009 Ven Te Chow Award

 

Professor Levent Kavvas is the recipient of the ASCE 2009 Ven Te Chow Award,  the ASCE-EWRI National Career Achievement Society Award. This is the highest award that can be bestowed upon a hydrologic engineer by the American Society of Civil Engineers. Ven Te Chow Award “recognizes individuals whose lifetime achievements in the field of hydrologic engineering have been distinguished by exceptional achievement and significant contributions in research, education, or practice", as stated in the award description.

Professor Kavvas has indicated that he would like to donate his cash prize to the Dept. of Civil and Environmental Engineering. The award includes a crystal trophy that will be displayed prominently at an appropriate location in the building.

Also as part of this award, Professor Kavvas  had the honor of delivering the 2009 Ven Te Chow Award lecture during the 2009 World Environmental & Water Resources Congress.
