Civil Engineering Program Educational Objectives


The objectives of the Civil Engineering program at the University of California, Davis, are to produce civil and environmental engineers that:


Fundamentals

employ the fundamental principles of mathematics, basic sciences, and engineering sciences to stay abreast of and contribute to the state-of-the-art in civil and environmental engineering;


Application

apply fundamental principles for solving civil and environmental engineering problems; contribute to multi-disciplinary team efforts; and have the ability to conduct research during post-graduate education and within the profession;


Professionalism

grow professionally throughout their careers, including achievement of professional licensure and continued development of technical abilities, business and management skills, professional service roles, and community leadership;


Service to Society and the Profession

represent the diversity of the program’s constituencies; and serve the needs of society and the profession.
