The UC Davis Institute of Transportation Engineers (ITE) Student Chapter placed 2nd in the Transportation Project competition at American Society of Civil Engineer’s Mid-Pacific Conference 2016. The members of this team include Dastagir Baig, Zhixiang Chen, Sara Dowling, Din Hong, Charuni Kurumbalapitiya and Freshta Pirzada.
The Transportation Project required student teams to design a cost effective and efficient signalized intersection for a newly built mega mall in the Reno area. The UC Davis student team applied methods of interesction design, geometric design, pavement design, drafting techniques and traffic engineering to create a successful intersection. Their design also took into account bicycle and pedestrian traffic, signage, and signal timing. The student team displayed all of their hard work on a poster which they presented at the conference.
Congratulations, Dastagir, Zhixiang, Sara, Din, Charuni, and Freshta!
