Following his retirement in 1993 Dr. Hutchinson became the Foreman of the Yolo County Grand Jury
for the 1993-94 session. He subsequently became involved with
the Yolo County Juvenile Justice / Delinquency Prevention Commission
and has served as Chair of that commission for the past five
years. He also serves on the board of directors of Citizens
Who Care (a local non-profit agency dedicated to helping the
elderly).
Dr. Hutchinson is still carrying on active research in the vibrations of solids. He has been actively involved in the organization of the International Symposia on the Vibration of Continuous Systems and has presented papers at all three symposia (1997,1999, 2001). He is currently helping with organization of the fourth symposium.
