Professor Maroney is a practicing civil engineer; licensed in the state of California, and working for the California Department of Transportation in the office of Earthquake Engineering, Division of Structures. His research interests are in the area of transportation structures and are design oriented. Most of his work focuses on bridge response to earthquake demands. He is currently working on problems in: dynamic soil-foundation-structure interaction of bridge systems; transportation system reliability and cost efficiency before, during, and following earthquakes; and reliable bridge system design
