Education

Research Interests

Professor Young's research centers on physical-chemical processes important in:
  • treating contaminated water, groundwater, and soil and
  • controlling the fate and transport of contaminants in the environment.
The majority of his research has been in the area of environmental sorption processes.  He has a strong interest in the application of engineering to environmental policy-making, having obtained a master's degree in public policy, a Ph.D. in environmental engineering and worked as a regulator for the US Environmental Protection Agency prior to joining the UCD faculty.
