The Performance Ranking of Scientific Papers for World Universities is produced by the Higher Education Evaluation and Accreditation Council of Taiwan (HEEACT). This project employs bibliometric methods to analyze and rank the scientific paper performances of the world’s top 500 universities, the world’s top 300 universities by six fields, and the world’s top 300 universities by ten subjects of science and technology
The indicators and weightings of the Performance Ranking of Scientific Papers for World Universities by HEEACT are explained as follows. There are three criteria for scientific paper performance: research productivity, research impact, and research excellence.
Research productivity: The research productivity evaluates the number of articles of the last 11 years (ex: 1999-2009) and the number of articles of the current year (ex: 2009). Both of them weighted 10%, respectively.
Research impact: The research impact evaluates the number of citations of the last 11 years (ex: 1999-2009), the number of citations of the last 2 years (ex: 2008-2009), and the average number of citations of the last 11 years (ex: 1999-2009). Each of them weighted 10%.
Research excellence: The research excellence evaluates the h-index of the last 2 years (ex: 2008-2009), the number of highly cited papers (ex: 1999-2009), and the number of articles of the current year in high-impact journals (ex: 2009). Each of them weighted 20%, 15%, and 15%, respectively.
