Undergraduate Studies in Civil and Environmental Engineering

The Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering offers the following programs at the undergraduate level:

Bachelor of Science – Civil Engineering

Bachelor of Science – Environmental Engineering NEW!

Minor – Construction Engineering and Management

Minor – Sustainability in the Built Environment  


The department has a long-standing commitment to the quality of undergraduate education as part of its mission to integrate research, education and professional service in areas related to civil infrastructure and the environment. Distinguishing characteristics of our program include (1) an undergraduate experience that is enriched by a strong research atmosphere, (2) a curriculum that not only provides a rigorous base of fundamentals and offers significant flexibility in course selection and electives, but also integrates fundamentals, application, and professionalism within individual courses, and (3) a faculty commitment to an efficient curriculum design that enables students to a time-to-degree of four years.


The Civil Engineering major is accredited by the Engineering Accreditation Commission of ABET, https://www.abet.org/

The Environmental Engineering major is not yet accredited by the Engineering Accreditation Commission of ABET, https://www.abet.org/. We recommend that students interested in Environmental Engineering pursue the Civil and Environmental Engineering Double major.
