Application Fee Waivers and Fellowship Opportunities

UC Davis, the College of Engineering, and the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering all sponsor various Application Fee Waivers and Fellowship Opportunities.  We encourage you to review the list below and apply if you are eligible! Please review this list in order, and apply to the first opportunity that you are eligible for. 

At this time, we do not have an Application Fee Wavier or Fellowship based on financial need. 

  • Graduate Preparation Programs Fee Waiver
  • Applicants who are affiliated with one or more of the Graduate Preparation programs listed on the Graduate Studies website are eligible for graduate application fee waivers.

  • COE Equity Program Fee Waiver Eligibility
  • Applicants must seek Fall 2025 admission to a PhD or Master's program administered by the College of Engineering
    Only US citizens or current permanent residents are eligible to receive a fee waiver through this program.
    Applicants who have participated in other Graduate Preparation Programs listed here already qualify for a fee waiver through that program.

    * Applicants will need to provide brief contact/demographic information, as well as provide short responses to two questions.
    * Those who qualify for a fee waiver will receive an email with directions on how to use the waiver. (NOTE: waivers will be sent daily Monday-Friday only)
  • University of California Application Fee Fellowship Program
  • The Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering offers Graduate Application Fee Fellowships to applicants who meet the following eligibility requirements:

    Meet ONE of the following criteria:

    1. You have (or will earn before admission) an engineering-related undergraduate degree from any University of California campus.
    2. You have (or will earn before admission) an engineering-related undergraduate degree from a California State University or Cal Poly campus.
    3. You have participated in a qualifying program or event (Note: Eligible students will have been previously notified by their program or event).

    AND ALL of the following criteria:

    1. You have a minimum cumulative undergraduate GPA of 3.0 (on a 4.0 scale).
    2. You have submitted a complete application to the UC Davis CEE Master’s Program by the general deadline, but have not yet paid the application fee.
    A complete application includes: all transcripts uploaded, three letters of recommendation submitted, and the online application fully filled out.
    3. You do not qualify for the Graduate Preparation Program Fee Waiver or the COE Equity Program Fee Waiver.
    4. You have submitted the CEE Application Fee Fellowship Form.

    Important Notes:

    - Do not pay the application fee. If you pay the fee, we cannot issue a reimbursement.
    - After submitting this form, you should receive an email from the CEE Graduate Program Coordinator within 3–5 business days.
    - If you have questions or do not receive an email within 5 business days, please contact Lauren Worrell at lkworrell@ucdavis.edu.
    - As long as you submit your application by the posted deadline, a delay of up to 3–5 business days in fee payment will not negatively impact your application.

    For the Fall 2026 application cycle, the department will award a minimum of 30 Application Fee Fellowships; awarded in order of submission to applicants who meet all the eligibility criteria. 

    To receive this fellowship:
    1. Complete the online application form, and click “submit”
    2. Do NOT pay the application fee (we cannot offer refunds)
    3. Make sure all your transcripts are uploaded, and your letters of recommendation have been submitted
    4. Complete the short Application Fee Fellowship Program form
    5. If your application is not showing as paid within 3-5 business days, please email lkworrell@ucdavis.edu

    Note: As long as you have clicked "submit" on your application by the posted deadline, a 3-5 day delay in payment will not negatively impact your application status. 

  • California State University / Cal Poly Application Fee Fellowship Program

  • Unfortunately, we are unable to provide Application Fee Waivers or Fellowships to all interested applicants at this time. This includes Application Fee Waivers based on Financial Hardship. 

    We hope to expand things in the future, but at this point, there is no option for students not covered by one of the listed programs.
