Research Engineer

Dr. Gross's research focuses on estuarine hydrodynamics and transport processes. His current focus is investigating ecological effects of hydrodynamic processes. Recent and ongoing projects include and modeling of zooplankton and fish distribution using particle-tracking models and individual-based models driven by three-dimensional hydrodynamic models.

  • Application of hydrodynamic models to the San Francisco Estuary, Galveston Bay, Otsuchi Bay and other locations
  • Analysis of salt transport mechanisms in estuaries
  • Application of particle-tracking models to represent the effect of buoyancy on recruitment and retention in the estuary
