Prof. Michele Barbato elected to Board of Governors of the ASCE Engineering Mechanics Institute

Dr. Michele Barbato, Professor of Structural Engineering and Structural Mechanics in the Civil and Environmental Engineering department, has been elected to the Board of Governors of the Engineering Mechanics Institute (EMI) of ASCE for a three-year term starting October 1, 2020. The EMI’s Board of Governors defines the Institute’s strategic directions, oversees its operations, and promotes its growth and development in order to meet the needs of the Engineering Mechanics community at large. Dr. Barbato’s election to the EMI Board of Governors follows years as an active member of the organization, in which he served as vice-chair in 2016-2017 and chair in 2017-2020 of the EMI Dynamics technical committee.
